About the Product

Leather

I source the leather from various hide shops around the country, always looking for just the right color, weight and sheen. No two bags are ever alike, and when I find a color that I absolutely love, it is always finite. I purchase close-out hides and odd-lot hides to keep the price manageable for all. It also forces me to continue to be creative instead of simply repeating a style.

Textiles

Many of the textiles that I am using are imported from Turkey or sourced from unique places I seek out. I am always searching for the experiential texture and the rich color of any material that could be considered for one of my bags. It is part of the process.

Lining

The lining materials in the Day Tripper bag is most often made from deconstructed kimonos imported from Kyoto, Japan. I am passionate about the principle of reduce, reuse, recycle and do my best to reduce waste, repurpose when possible, keeping my footprint on this good earth minimal. The kimono fabric is not always available, so I source my additional options from thrift shops, close-outs and repurposed linings. The lining in the larger Airport Tote is sourced from a wonderful company that does linen in a spectacular way. I love the way the linen feels and functions. It adds the perfect organic touch. The bigger bags are heavier when used to their fullest potential and need that extra tough lining to bear the weight. Each bag is reinforced with leather on the bottom interior, and has leather strapping that is tough, but soft and comfortable.

Graphic Imagery

I create the graphic imagery on the bags from a vast collection of vintage graphics, old wallpaper patterns and public domain sourced materials. I have purchased many of the graphics in my collection, or found them in antique books over the years. The designs are transferred onto the leather one image at a time.

Misfits, Earrings and Bracelets

These items are all inspired by my desire to use all the bits and pieces left when making the bigger bags. All these parts want to be made into something beautiful as well, so I ponder and then I create. Perhaps one of these creations will find its way to your home, your ears, your wrist, or to someone you know!
